In other words, even on a computer,
if you are viewing this video embedded
    onto another website, i can't
promise they will show up. JUST
    on youtube i can! Thanks!
First of all...just an FYI before i start. I have a very limited power supply on my test bench, I have 3 12v batteries, 3 14v batteries and 3 16v batteries. A lot of companies rate amplifiers @ 14.4-14.5vdc, basically the type of power you would expect when the vehicle is running and the alternator is turning. For that reason, i decided just to use the 14v bank. If a company stresses 12v ratings in the book, i normally will do those as well. For this test, the 14v bank it is. That consists of 3 XS Power D1400 Batteries sitting on a XS Power HF1415 (15a) Intellicharger. It is in no way shape or form a "power supply" although when you look at the tests you might see the SURFACE charge above 15v. That is quickly used up when the test starts and is brought back down to low 14v range. It is not a perfect test due to my power supply issues. BUT, i think 3 small 14v batteries on a small 15a charger with a 1500watt rated amp pulling on it isn't TOO far off what you would see in real life.
Every time i do this, i try to give away prizes for those who can guess the numbers that the amps put out when we test them. This week, i am giving away the actual test subject (the AMP) and a pair of 12's! If the other amps shown in this video also pass, i will give those away too! I want to make some people happy here rather then just let them sit around like a lot of my amps do.
the SMD D'Amore Engineering Amp Dyno AD-1 is about to set the standard in car audio for amplifier ratings. Does your 5000 watt amp really do 5000 watts? Whether it is car, pro, or home audio, the AD-1 AKA the Honey Badger, does not care.
Remember, the amp dyno isn't so much about your amplifier not making the power as it is WHY the amp isn't making its power. If your electrical system, or some other link in the chain is not working to its full potential, the amplifier will not either. The dyno shows any small change you make in REAL TIME.
