Speaker Excursions (Bass I Love You...)

  • 09/11/2009
Just had to try out a track I just recently downloaded on my systems, I cannot believe the excursion this song brings out of every speaker that could handle the power levels applied.. Actually I have no idea what the power levels are exactly, but it's fairly decent I expect.
My truck's system consists of an Alpine PDX 4.150 amplifier powering the two Alpine Type R 12" subs shown, and two Alpine Type R 6.5" speakers in my front doors (set up on a high-pass, so no bass goes to them). I'm unsure on the exact specifications of the amp cuz I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I'm pretty sure I'm putting a good load on it.
Other system components in the truck consist of Sony 6.5" four way speakers in the rear doors and Sony 4x6 four way dash speakers, powered by a Pioneer AVH-P5700DVD head unit.... All wiring and configuration done by yours truly. Only the subwoofer enclosure was not my doing, a friend built that box specifically for the Type Rs.
In my room on the other hand, it's more of a one-off setup... I paid nothing for any of the speakers, I pretty much just threw what I had on the Sony STR-DE898 7.1 Surround receiver, and I must say, it came out a lot better than I had hoped. So anyway, here we go:
There are two sets of fronts.
Set A: Panasonic speakers from a Panasonic SC-AK95 Mini-Stereo System
Set B: Panasonic speakers from a Panasonic SC-AK310 Mini-Stereo System (only the 6.5" woofer connected to this)
Center: Same set as the front channels set B, using only the tweeters
Side Speakers: Reused 6.5" stock speakers (AC-Delco?) from the rear doors of my truck, in White Westinghouse 4" speaker enclosures
Rear Speakers: Gutted Altec Lansing ACS340 Subwoofers (used as full-range now)
That pretty well covers the systems... Enjoy the excursion.
